In the current market , we  get to see an Acquisition or a Merger  everyday.  But we are more interested in the Start-up acquisitions by the Very Big or better say the Market Leading Companies…. On March 25th such an acquisition had happened , although the market is still not aware of this well , I get the story for you…. In December 2011 , Nick created an iPhone app to summarise articles in 300-400 characters, ideal for the smartphone-user wondering what he should bother reading.  And the remarkable note is that he was just 15 then . Summly was introduced into the market as a tech summarization prototype that garnered significant interest worldwide. Although it was him , who started this had the support of many other people going forward , which made the application so stable now. After he introduced the app , the Horizon’s Ventures backed him for the same. With the help of many...

It is often assumed that creativity will lead to innovation automatically. In modern usage creativity is often used as synonym to innovation. However it is not the case. Simple brainstorming on ideas will not lead to innovation. What is needed is the implementation of ideas. Ideas do not implement themselves and you can’t build a business on an “air castle”.   There are many actions taken by governments as well as private organizations to ignite creativity and imagination among population. What we see lacking in the society is not creativity and ideation but innovation in the actual implementation of ideas. An idea can come to the minds of many of us but that will not bring the success. What will bring the success is innovative and efficient implementation of the idea.   The most idea-people have many creative ideas but lack the patience of implementation....

They say mind is the epicenter of all ideas. An IDEA is like a virtual hardware which when enacted upon in a positive direction brings to fore its own brilliance and magnificence. The nub of any successful business venture is an idea. An idea paves way for a change; an idea defines an entrepreneur. Be it Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Sam Walton or Thomas Alva Edison, each of them was an absolutely normal person like us. But what came to define them was an idea, an idea that changed the lives of millions of people for the better. Hello Readers!!! This is Arunabh Agarwal, a newbie in the list of entrepreneurial authors for Techaloo, a startup that aims to foster entrepreneurship among students. My first article would be central to entrepreneurship, what it actually means to be a successful entrepreneur and some extraordinary and unorthodox characteristics of successful entrepreneurs. An...

I think a lot of people see movies like The Social Network and see partying, cool offices, meeting awesome people and we all imagine how cool working in a startup will be. The opportunity to be successful and rich like Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder) is high but risk to failure of a startup is also exponential. According to Harvard Business Review research 98% of the startup closes down within 2 years of foundation. This is an article (not to scare them) but just tell them a little about the ground situation in a startup so that you can judge whether your mindset is suitable to work in a startup or not. Working in a startup requires high affinity to risk and entrepreneurial mindset, people with steady job mindset may avoid joining the startup. Startup employees often get fired or quit early, the reason being the very nature of a startup, which is very different from a large company. When...

Hello Guys , Let me introduce you all Guid Software founded by a couple of ambitious students from Hyderabad. Here is a short chat I had with the co-founder of Guid, Nawaz Dhandala. It was founded by Nawaz Dhandala and Hatim . AJ :How the entrepreneurship journey started? Or who inspired you to start business?  Nawaz : It all started when I was at Bangalore airport and was flying to Mumbai. I remember, It was winter in India and the northern parts of the country were foggy. My flight was an incoming flight from Delhi and it was delayed by over 3 hours because of the fog all around. Needless to say, I was bored. I was playing with my phone and that was the “Eureka!” moment.  How great it would be if I could see people...

Remember the Zune project, the portable music player aimed at destroying the monstrous sales figures of Apple’s iPod? Or the operating system meego, which was said to be one of the most promising operating systems on mobile to be built? Or the social networking site Hi5 that was literally demolished by Facebook when it had just started gaining ground from orkut. These startups along are just some examples of projects that when they came in the market were considered game changers in their respective industries but vanquished soon after. Some of them may still be running but they are nowhere as compared to their expectations. Ideas for launching new startups, and the overly optimistic founders behind them, are a dime a dozen in this era of fast-growing knowledge. Look at the story of Kodak, a photography giant, a ship that was considered unsinkable, is bankrupt today. Why do these...

“FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL”   What is a business plan? What is the advantage of making one? A business plan is merely a tool that helps to get an entrepreneur’s onto paper. It is a way that an entrepreneur has to show his knowledge of the market he is entering into, the numbers he thinks he can achieve and what how he imagines the final structure of his company to be. 543,000 new business start each month, according to Fobes.com, a business plan helps to make your plan look better, well at least on paper. At the very least, the process of putting a business plan together (not the type that you would do to get finance from a VC or an angel), but an honest attempt at what you expect to do – will make you think about some of the key aspects such as customers, products, location, demographics, and risk as well as an introspection on how well do you yourself...

That’s my name     Every start-up has a lot of struggles and probably that is why it is called a start-up. You have to face a lot of difficulties like connecting with people, convincing the people why your product is better and gaining leverage over your competitors from even the slightest difference you have with another product. We have to make a mark in the minds of people that are already accustomed to a particular service or product from other company. Every startup faces an initial problem – WHAT TO NAME YOUR PRODUCT. Sounds simple right? Err nope is what most startups will answer. The reason for this being is that the name of the startup can actually solve a lot of difficulties initially faced by a startup like making an...
