Achieved milestones make you work harder towards your bigger goal : Aditya Gupta

Social Samosa is in the space of knowledge sharing and dissemination. They write about the latest trends, brand campaigns, case studies & everything that you can think of that’d help a person understand, learn and contribute to the field of social media. Social Samosa serves as a platform for every social media professional to share an opinion, case studies, look for career opportunities or may be even to keep a tab on latest events in the industry.
They’ve a Blog where they publish all the content, a Jobs site – which specifically serves the purpose of hiring and getting hired in the social media industry, a platform called Ask – where one could ask anything about social media, a workshop & training site called School and also Lists – where they list down the links to brand properties on social media.

A business can use social media for recruiting, for brand building, for knowledge dissemination, for building customer loyalty, for business development and sales, for market research and understanding consumer behavior etc. There’s a whole lot that a business can potentially do using social media platforms.

The case studies section on social samosa is probably one the top visited sections. They’ve over 150+ Indian social media case studies put on up on the portal. And almost every brand can find atleast one case study from their industry. For new businesses, social media agency owners and social media executives what better way than to locate all the work done in one single place and learn from the experiences of other brands.

Launched in December 2011, Social Samosa is a brain child of Aditya Gupta and Ankita Gaba. They wanted to build a destination property for anything to do with social media in India. During their early days at iGenero and Superchooha [Ankita’s first startup which was a social media agency], they never had a chance to showcase their work or to look up at Indian case studies or follow the work of their competitors. They wanted to solve this problem and are still trying to do so.

Social Samosa is the winner of Blog of The Year award at WAT Awards 2013, and also one of the few Indian startups to be shortlisted for Websummit 2013 in Dublin. When techaloo asked Aditya about this, he says, “To be honest, we applied for both of these just to see what do people really think of us and what kind of value do we add to the industry today. We were pleasantly surprised and of course super happy when we heard the news! It definitely feels good when your efforts get appreciated and also makes you work harder towards your bigger goal.”

As of now, social samosa isn’t into generic training. They recently launched Social Samosa School and have held one workshop in Mumbai so far. They’re coming up with an interesting activity for startups soon. And are also looking at workshops for students across various b-schools in India.

We hope to increase our digital footprint with the various initiatives we’ve taken so far. We are also in the process of launching a couple of platforms in the coming few months. Three year planning would be a little too long considering the social media space is growing and very volatile as of today

Says Aditya.

Aditya’s Views About Techaloo :

It’s amazing how you guys have managed to build such a fantastic portal when you’re already a part of a competitive college environment. Fantastic initiative to help startups and entrepreneurs share their stories with the world. Thanks for having Social Samosa on TechAloo
