“FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL”   What is a business plan? What is the advantage of making one? A business plan is merely a tool that helps to get an entrepreneur’s onto paper. It is a way that an entrepreneur has to show his knowledge of the market he is entering into, the numbers he thinks he can achieve and what how he imagines the final structure of his company to be. 543,000 new business start each month, according to Fobes.com, a business plan helps to make your plan look better, well at least on paper. At the very least, the process of putting a business plan together (not the type that you would do to get finance from a VC or an angel), but an honest attempt at what you expect to do – will make you think about some of the key aspects such as customers, products, location, demographics, and risk as well as an introspection on how well do you yourself...

Why people get into startups: Soon after graduation, many students have many plans like some want to get into a govt. job where one is paid with enough capital & extra allowances. Some like to get into money making job. Some go for higher studies. A very few work for NGO which is sometimes misunderstood as the last option for a jobless student. Some students from the core technical background settle down in any of the IT Company. Excluding all these students, out of the few left, a very few have the plans for startups. Some work with the passion for carving their own niche in the society. Need for startups: India has got a very great talent which is misused in one or the other form. About two weeks ago I was scanning through “The Start-Up Manual” when my dad called… He wanted to share a thought on an alternative way of  hiring an co-worker on his farm. After the call I realized that although my dad is not a Mark Zuckerberg type of person and his farm is not designed to scale up after a pilot period, as a smallscale farmer from the Netherlands he is facing most of the challenges that start-up teams have too. -  He is looking for a repeatable business model that is profitable in the short and long term. -  To beat the competition he has specialized in certain crops and products that best fits his knowledge as well as local environment (customers, soil, climate, etc.). -  He is raising money to sustain his position in the market, -  He does marketing and sales to find customers and overall: -  just as a (co)founder of a start-up, he is working very...

There are only two important factors for the growth of any economy in this competitive world. They are 1) Entrepreneurship and 2) Innovation. The best example of the above factors is the recovery of Germany post-World War, and, more recently, Israel’s status of a developed economy have all been driven by Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Now-a-days, they have become even more important for India because of its demographic dividend and it can only be realized with the rapid creation of employment and income generation opportunities. In the late 1880’s, because of leading position in the fields like trade, Mathematics, Astronomy and Philosophy India was considered an innovation driven country and India accounted for 25 % of world GDP (Gross Domestic Product) which was the largest in the world. But due to the Colonization and at the beginning of 1990’s India was facing bankruptcy so India’s...
