CompareHero helps Malaysians:
■ Save money by becoming a one-stop portal for comparing financial products and services with ease.

■ Take control of their finances by being a source of expert advice, taking a no-nonsense look at financial services and products to unravel the jargon, highlight the snags in the small print, and tell consumers what to look out for before choosing a financial product.

CompareHero is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Managing director Floyd Sijmons says the idea stemmed from a personal discovery after he found out that important financial information such as medical insurance policies are not readily accessible in the country. Informational tools and sites similar to CompareHero have long been popular in Europe and the United States.

“The amount of options and depth of the benefits for the products available are so broad that it makes it virtually impossible for the public to find the best offer for them” said Sijmons. He also mentioned that the amount of providers such as banks, financial and telecoms companies, creates an even more confusing and complex task for Malaysians. “People all around the world are often intimidated and afraid of either doing research on these products and companies as they are often just seem so confusing from the first sentence. This created a need for an easy-to-use comparison tool to help consumers find the best available offer. Thus, the idea to create CompareHero and use its potential to change lives in this part of Asia started to take root.

The main aspect that sets us apart from competitors is that we are genuinely interested in helping Malaysians with their money and without charging them anything.

CompareHero’s dedicated, data-driven team are spending countless hours comprehensively reviewing terms and conditions for thousands of financial products. “Part of our mission is to find the most accurate and up-to-date information” said Sijmons. He added, “Our team are skilfully summarising and simplifying the main key benefits on each plan and are on-track towards developing the most comprehensive financial comparison site”.

CompareHero now makes it simpler and faster for Malaysians to research goods and services online – at no costs at all to the consumer.. Users will be able to create personal profiles and generate a customised product overview accordingly. There are also options to filter and sort results based on the user’s preferences.

Launched in July 2013, CompareHero’s user base is steadily growing by more than 20% per week. At the time of this article being written. Sijmons says the figure is in-line with the team’s target. More consumer finance providers are also starting to partner up with the team and contributing to the development process. Over the next few weeks, CompareHero will see these partnerships being brought to fruition on various media platforms. All of these will have own focus, to help educate and guide Malaysians along with their financial well-being.
