Techaloo got an opportunity to have a chit-chat with team Fitkat. Let see what do they want to share with us.

Techaloo: What was your vision/mission while starting Fitkat?
Fitkat: To be one of the best devices and eco system. A device that people love.

Techaloo: How did this idea come to your mind?
Fitkat: In June / July of 2014, we had a long weekend and since we were not travelling a few friends and I decided to go for a jog and cycle. I have always been a sports person sine college, having played cricket and basketball for my school and college ive always had a fit lifestyle but since a few years I have not been very active. So while jogging I had heavy smokers and drinkers do better than me, and that hit me very badly and I took it very personally. So I decided to buy rival devices, also devices with a smart coaching feature and the information did motivate me but I knew there were a lot of features missing. So I added features that are most important to us.

Also very importantly is smart coach –

Other companies have trained and certified coaches, but again to us is just following someone just because they are certified. So we decided to start a portal where people like us who are leading a healthy lifestyle by following and maintaining a regime where my users could relate to. So have people who have worked hard on their own to lead a healthy lifestyle. So my users will talk to people who have actually made a difference.

Techaloo:Why the name Fitikat?
Fitkat: We wanted a Catchy name so while watching a Kitkat Ad we came up with the name Fitkat.

Techaloo: What hurdle did you face while starting?
Fitkat: We have been extremely lucky with Fitkat, right from CES in Las Vegas, we got great response from everyone even though we dint have a booth. We met some really well known Industry affiliates who have pre-ordered our Device. So to be honest for Fitkat we haven’t faced any issues.

Techaloo: What are the features of Fitkat device?

  1. Activity Fitness Tracker
  2. Pill Reminder
  3. Hydration reminder
  4. SOS
  5. Guardian Feature
  6. Smart Coach
  7. Battery Lasts for 14 days.

Techaloo: How are you different from other competitors?
Fitkat: We have made sure we differ our product from my other peers. We believe there are 3 things people look for in a device

  • Functions
  • The way it looks
  • Price

We have made sure we excel in all 3

  1. We have Hydration reminder – no device has that
  2. We have a pill reminder for old people – no device has that
  3. SOS – no device has that

Our eco – system allows a band user to use a smart coach – to discuss training methods. Or a guardian (parents etc.. ) to view daily activities real time and off course in an SOS situation to get help.

With all these features our price is 4000 RS.

And the device has a screen and great battery life.

Techaloo: You have recently launched a crowd funding campaign? What are the benefits of contributing for the same?
Fitkat: Getting people to know about our product. Getting the proposed reach and obviously an easier way of explaining the product to everyone on one portal.

Techaloo: When can we see the product live?
Fitkat: We are due to ship the devices beginning of June.

fitkat_side_1Techaloo: How is the response till now?
Fitkat: Response have been great both online and offline. So far whoever we have spoken to have bought the device. and family members are different. So response has been great and we get emails from buyers that they are eagerly waiting for the product.

Techaloo: What was the response from your family while starting?
Fitkat: Very supporting. You get all your confidence when your family is standing with you and will help you when you fall down. More than anything else – our parents are very proud of what we are doing.

Techaloo: What are your plans for next 3 years?
Fitkat: We do believe in IoT and wearables in the next best thing, we also believe in “Staying Connected” so we are going to be concentrating on products that will help in Big Data and “Staying Connected” irrespective of verticals, it could be fitness, medical, security and so on…

Techaloo: What message do you want to give to an aspiring entrepreneur?
Fitkat: Stay Calm and focused. If you believe in your product, go for it don’t listen to anyone. And get your team right and work with the right people. You should have the ball in your court and not the other way around!

Techaloo: What do you think about
Fitkat: When I look at tech sites, I see a lot of unwanted reviews or articles, that are not even important. However on TechAloo the good thing is

  • Easy on the eye
  • Not too many articles that are repeated, even if they are , it is written differently.
  • Well very written articles, and informative.
