IAN launches cross border b-plan competition to improve the relations of India and Pakistan

Indian Angel Network (IAN) is a famous startup-supporter in India. But Now, after launching LAN in SriLanka, IAN has launched a cross-border competition with Pakistan. Where entrepreneurs from India and Pakistan will take part and will also get mentored by cross border mentors. They named it as “Startup Dosti Business Plan Competition“.

The Dosti Partnership is the product of a cross-border partnership between the Atlantic Council (USA), the Indian Angel Network (India) and SEED Ventures (London, Karachi). The partnership is a timely initiative that builds on a growing trend of improved economic relations between India and Pakistan by promoting greater collaboration and trust in the business community, providing opportunities for cross-border investment, and supporting youth entrepreneurship.

The Dosti Partnership’s flagship project is the Startup Dosti : Indo – Pak Business Plan Competition, a tournament style business plan competition for early stage startups in India and Pakistan.

The participants will receive individually tailored, cross-border mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders in both India and Pakistan, as well as the opportunity to earn seed funding, free incubation for three to six months in both countries, and access to a unique network of entrepreneurs to help execute their business idea.

The competition will gather young entrepreneurs from both countries in person in Thailand for the finale in late 2013, and again possibly in Washington, DC for a dynamic follow-up dialogue and mentorship session in 2014.

Last date to apply : 30th November 2013

The final round of the competition will feature business plan pitches to a panel of experienced investors from both countries and the diaspora. The pitches, mentoring, and follow – up sessions will all be produce a dynamic television series, in partnership with CNBC in India. The TV program will air in 2014.
