Interview with “Skilled Interns” founder…


Skilled intern is a startup by mr. Gaurang ,who completed his graduation in engineering in 2012.

Skilled interns works in following fields:

•Providing internships to the students
•Providing interns to the company
•Providing internship assistance to students from foreign countries
•Skill Development and Training .

Its our pleasure that Gaurang shared his journey with us.Lets explore skilled interns.

Techaloo:How the entrepreneurship journey started? Or who inspired you to start business?
Gaurang:As they say , entrepreneur solves real life problems . And I had been problem solver since I was kid . During 8th grade , we had fete in college , and we sold lots of sandwiches in our stall , diminishing the hunger of our visitors .
I love to read biographies . I read about Richard Branson , who started businesses during his teens and expanded the vertical to 300 different domains . He inspired me to start business by solving the real life problems and love what ever you do . I am consistently inspired by people like Dhirubhai Ambani , Lakshmi Niwas Mittal who are business giants and their persona is amazing .

Techaloo:You just graduated from a good institute, why did you prefer entrepreneurship over a job?
Gaurang:Business always had been fantasy for me . And my inclination always had been towards the job creator not to do a job . I love to solve real life problems & contribute back to society . With entrepreneurship , I do both .
At the end of the day , entrepreneurship tends to be better choice since you are not working for your own family but for other 1000s of employees family .

Techaloo:Share some info about “Skilled Interns” here?
Gaurang:SkilledInterns is lies in Education & Human Resources Industries .
SkilledInterns provides dedicated 1 to 1 trainings to its students to increase their employability . Throughout the training period , their competency tests are taken to visualize their progress .
After they have mastered their subject , they are sent to Startups & SMEs for internships to broaden their vision and skill set.
We be the bridge for companies to hire the skilled interns / employees .

Techaloo:What was the vision mission of the company? What exactly you wanted to do when you started your business?
Gaurang:Vision of company is to be largest Human Resource Domain Corporate and Immediate goals being declining the rate of unemployment in India .
Indian Economy used to be largest till early 10th Century . And there used to be zero unemployment then . We want to contribute to national economy and reduce unemployment to zero . Also we are bringing culture of peer to peer education to promote literacy .

Techaloo:What kind of difficulties you had faced while starting business?
Gaurang:We faced difficulties consistently and we still do . Establishing connections with students , making them trust us was really difficult job . We offered free introductory workshops to reluctant students , mentored them to solve these problems .
There is lots of competition in this market and we are proud of smartness of our competition . Thanks to our team’s strategies & passion, we are moving ahead swiftly .

Techaloo:Share with our readers about discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your business?
Gaurang:We had long discovery period of about 2 years . During this , we talked to over 600 Engineering students of different fields . We asked about their future goals , their passion , what they think about their college , etc.
We studied the information , did research and then we were designing some products / services which would solve problems which they were facing .
Reaching out to 600 students of different colleges / trades / years was very challenging yet interesting task to do .

Techaloo:Share with our readers about your experiment period after discovery period?
Gaurang:We had experiment period of about 1 year .
. During this phase , we started several portals with different variations to get feedbacks and generate statistics of usage . We also focused on user’s behavior and hence did lots of behavioral analysis .
We self professed ourselves in different fields to cut the costs .

Techaloo:What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for next five years?
Gaurang:In next five years , we will be establishing ourselves in every single college of India by opening chapters in them . We will make sure that no student is having fear of jobs . Every student will be identifying their interest / passion within first week of beginning of their course .
We don’t have any exit plans for future . We foresee long term growth , develop some interactive mobile apps for increasing user interaction , to turn a raw talent into a skilled intern for corporates .

Techaloo: What will be your advice/suggestion for new entrepreneurs for starting new business?
Gaurang:I have to repeat the cliché .
Don’t work for money . Identify your passion and start working in that field . Try to visualize about any product which will be solving some real life problem and market it . Soon you will see how it will grow up and will become a full blossoming business .

Mohit Bansal(23) is B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, India.
