LetsRide : Now reduce traffic and make commute system faster

Whenever u peep through the window of any private car on the road, there is bound to be one or two seats empty. Today in India , in metro cities almost 80% of the families are nuclear family. In the age of nuclear families, even if whole family is in the car, there is a possibility of a seat still vacant. Why not just fill up these seats, and reduce the number of cars, reduce the honking horns, reduce the traffic jams and work towards building a greener place to breathe in for our future generations to come.

LetsRide.in is a Pune based startup which is targeting to solve this problem. LetsRide was founded by Rajkumar Mundel, who is  a  B.E grad from Army Institue of Technology College, Pune, followed by IT Software development experience in Infosys and Oracle Financial Software Services.

Techaloo got an opportunity to have a chit chat with Raj. Let see what he wants to share with our audience.

Techaloo : When did you start your journey?
Raj : 22nd Sept 2013..Its going good since then. Great response from users.

Techaloo : What made you motivated to join the entrepreneurship community?
Raj : The reason why I started Let’s Ride was because whenever I used to look at the cars on the roads with empty seats, creating traffic jam on the roads, it used to be very disturbing. It always kept me thinking about how to tackle this problem and thats how i started Let’s Ride and eventually became a part of the entrepreneurship community. Being a part of this community, I keep meeting many bright entrepreneurs and its always a pleasure to exchange ideas with like minded people.

Techaloo :  Where are you based out of?
Raj : Let’s Ride is based out of Aundh,Pune.

Techaloo : What was your vision/mission while starting LetsRide?
Raj : It was to reduce traffic on the roads and make our commute system faster, here in India.

Techaloo : What hurdles did you face while starting?
Raj : In my idea, the biggest hurdle is to bring about the habitual change. Its difficult to reach out to people, and explain and make them experience for once, as to how beneficial and better is ride-sharing rather than travelling all by yourself.

Techaloo : Have you got any kind of funding? Or Are you planning for the same?
Raj : We haven’t received any funding yet. But we welcome any kind of funding, be it investors or crowd funding.

Techaloo : How does it work?
Raj : Three simple quick steps :

1. Sign up for Letsride.in

2. Fill your Daily Commute Details ( It will take just 30 Sec and help you to get connected to people from Same Area or Same Company or Same Interest )

3. Search #Pune to get connected to People from Pune or #Area Name for more accurate results.

Techaloo : Are you charging the commuters?
Raj : No we are not charging the commuters. It is and will always be free for our end users.

Techaloo : How are you handling “Trust” or “Security” issue?
Raj : The Trust issue was our primary concern while building up the design for Let’s Ride portal. The sole reason behind making this a mini social portal, was to give people a chance to first look into a fellow rider’s profile, get to know about the person, check his ride-sharing network and then go ahead and take a ride. This routine would help people to build up a trust factor automatically through our Connect motto and Verification module(future release). Community members will constantly give user reviews about untrustworthy people based on hashtags #Review #Bad or #Review #Good.

Techaloo : Does someone need to reveal their identity?
Raj : We have all the security features enabled. It depends on the user to share his identity by changing his privacy settings through the edit profile page. If a user wants to share his identity they can , and if they do not want then they can make it private.

Techaloo : What cities are you offering your services in?
Raj : Its a PAN India initiative.

Techaloo : How is the response till now?
Raj : Its been very good. Every user on our portal are filling up their daily commute details and they are keen on getting connected locally so that the can share their rides and save some extra bucks and also contribute towards a greener society.

Techaloo : Are you planning some kind of mobile app?
Raj : Yes going down the line we do plan to have a mobile app, but not simply a replica of our portal. It will be an additional feature for enhanced connectivity and ride-sharing amongst users.

Techaloo : What changes are planning to make after Beta stage?
Raj : Currently we plan to make few changes in the Beta stage. After that there will be more changes as well.

Techaloo : What are your plans for next 3 years?
Raj : To grow more and more locally.

Techaloo : What will be your advice for fellow entrepreneurs?
Raj : One thing that can take entrepreneurs through the long road is Consistency.

Techaloo : What do you think about techaloo.com?
Raj : We are here to first build community which encourages people to go for a shared ride. Without the social media, it will be almost impossible to reach out to the people. Our community is about first creating awareness amongst people as to why they should start ride-sharing or carpooling. Secondly helping people how to find and share rides. Whenever awareness comes into picture, it boils down to one source that is social media, without which it cannot spread like wildfire. So we are thankful to Techaloo.com for giving us this platform to reach out to more and more people.
