You might have bored of E-commerce, but don’t worry; today we have a story of re-commerce market of India.
Manak waste management pvt. ltd. a Gurgaon (India) based company was started in May, 2009. While working in the waste management field they understood the need of better management of E-waste. Nakul and Mandeep, founders of Manak waste management pvt. ltd., launched a new initiative “ReGlobe.in” which helps one to buy/ sell old gadgets.

Techaloo got an opportunity to have a chit-chat with ReGlobe, let see what they have to offer –

Techaloo : How did Idea come to your mind?
ReGlobe : During the course of our journey, we realized a very interesting fact: end-of- life is highly circumstantial and ‘one man’s waste could very well be another’s resource’, of-course if the product has not reached a complete non-usable and non-refurbishable condition. With this in mind we researched on the thriving yet highly un-organized second hand product market in India and gauging an opportunity we launched our portal www.reglobe.in , which focuses on buying and selling used gadgets (Laptops was the first category and we added other categories like mobiles, tablets in October 2013).We are different from Quikr and OLX in a way that we are not a marketplace and we ourselves buy or sell the products bringing in the factor of trust, reliability and after sales support.

Techaloo : What was your vision/mission while starting ReGlobe?
ReGlobe : To provide affordable IT equipment to the masses without compromising on the quality along with reducing burden on the environment by promoting Re-use.

Techaloo : What hurdles did you face while starting?
ReGlobe : Since this is not our first venture, we knew what it takes to start a new business from scratch and were ready for it. Normal hurdles/challenges arose as we moved ahead like attracting talented people, managing the technology part, etc. Our current challenge is managing the cash flows and arranging fresh infusion of funds to grow the operations.

Techaloo : Tell us something about parent firm “Manak Waste Management”.
ReGlobe : We started in 2009 with an aim to provide innovative solutions for end-of-life product disposal (products past their expiry date or products past their useful life) and maximum value recovery using environmentally safe processes and technology. Average lifetime of products range from a few weeks to few years; for example, packaged foods (weeks or a few months), tyres (2-3 year), cars (7-8 years), mobile phones (2-3 years), laptops (2-3 years) etc. At the end of this period, these articles have to be treated in a way that the environmental and health hazards are minimized. Our company focused on designing/formulating the best disposal techniques for maximum value recovery and then executing the project in the most cost effective process.
Since 2009, we have worked on many projects including designing reverse logistics systems for mobile phone recycling, safe handling of CFLs, waste management and disposal on Indian trains, Scrap Tyre Recycling etc.
Our last project which we successfully exited by selling the business was Scrap Tyre recycling producing Fuel Oil and Carbon Black. End of life tyres present formidable disposal problems. Tyres are well known to be virtually immune to biological degradation. Thus tyres take up large amounts of valuable landfill space and also present fire and health hazards. We adopted catalytic pyrolytic reforming approach to convert waste tyres into sellable products hence eliminating tyre as an environment nuisance.
Our latest venture is a re-commerce website (www.reglobe.in) dealing in purchase and sale of old laptops. We buy used laptops/mobiles/tablets from consumers directly and sell those gadgets by refurbishing them to a new consumer segment. To briefly describe:

– We offer a guaranteed price to the owner of the gadget; organizing Free pick-up and Instant Cash
– We refurbish the gadgets in our specialized workshop
– We then sell those brand new old gadgets ( refurbished) for re –use

Techaloo : What prices are you giving to old gadgets?
ReGlobe : We have a unique pricing model which takes into consideration the brand, model, age and condition of the gadget to come to a specific buying price. The price is unique to each model. We around 5000+ models of laptops and around 200+ models of mobiles/tablets catalogued on our website.

Techaloo : What quality checks do you make while purchasing a old gadget?
ReGlobe : We have a team of technicians in 4 cities i.e. Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad who inspect the gadget at customer’s home and pay cash as per the final conditions. For other cities, customers can send in their gadgets to us free of cost as we bear the cost of shipping as well as packing material. We have specially designed reverse logistics boxes and have a reverse logistics tie-ups with best courier companies to manage the pick-ups of gadgets. Once the gadget reaches our warehouse, it is tested and the final inspection report is shared with the customers and money transferred via NEFT or Cheque.

Techaloo : How is the response till now?
ReGlobe : The response has been very good so far. We have strategic tie-ups with OEMs and leading e-commerce companies as well, which brings us lots of customers.

Techaloo : Are you planning for any mobile app as well?
ReGlobe : Yes. But that is still under development and will be out after 3-4 months.

Techaloo : What are your plans for next 3 years?
ReGlobe : To become the biggest re-commerce company in India with multiple categories.

Techaloo : What do you think about techaloo.com?
ReGlobe : It is a great platform for Entrepreneurs to reach out to people and make their stories heard. I also believe such platforms are brilliant resources for future entrepreneurs to learn from others. We wish you all the best.
