Millions of people start their day with a social media.I am also a proud member of that crowd.The big three social media of this day-Facebook,LinkedIn,Twitter- always have a role in Job Creators & Job Seekers.This post gives a brief idea on the relevance of social media to the above people.Many interesting facts,some misinterpreted,will be known to you within a few minutes.

Some of the Key findings are:

1.TWITTER EXCEEDS FACEBOOK FOR SOCIAL RECRUITING:

  • Even though recruiters have fewer connections on Twitter,19% of them are connected to LinkedIn when compared to 10% to both LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Twitters networks grow faster than facebook networks.

2.LINKEDIN DRIVES THE MOST JOB VIEWS & APPLICATIONS:

  •  LinkedIn  job views per job= 3 times Twitter and 6 times Facebook.
  • LinkedIn Job Applications= 9 times Facebook and 3 times  Twitter.

3.TWITTER FOLLOWERS MOST LIKELY  TO APPLY VIA SOCIAL NETWORKS:

  •  A Twitter follower likeliness to apply to a job=3 times LinkedIn connection and 8 times Facebook friend.
  • Applications received per contact from Twitter=3 times LinkedIn and 8 times Facebook .

4.MEDIAN NUMBER OF NETWORK CONNECTIONS PER RECRUITER:

A typical recruiter has 616  LinkedIn connections, 245  Facebook friends and  37 Twitter followers.
LinkedIn, known as the “professional” network, was adopted much earlier for recruiting, which is why recruiters have smaller networks on Facebook and Twitter.

5.NETWORK SIZE DISTRIBUTION AMONG RECRUITERS:

For a better understanding of network size among recruiters, the following size distribution of every social network is done:

  •   75% of recruiters have 100 or less Twitter followers
  • 28% of recruiters have over 1,000 LinkedIn connections
  •    21% of recruiters have 50 or less Facebook friends

6.HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR RECRUITERS TO DOUBLE THEIR NETWORK SIZE?

Recruiters will double their LinkedIn network size in about 7.6 months and their Twitter network size in a short span of 2.7  months. It will take around 33.9  months for recruiters to double their Facebook
network size.
This data suggests that Facebook is least preferred by recruiters.Generally Facebook networks are moderately sized,but networks builds at a very slow pace.
