SocialProma, a startup by Miss Amisha Singh, student at Christ University Bangalore. Just in 3 months since it’s inception SocialProma has gained a good traction.

Social Proma is dedicated to provide information (News & Views) regarding latest tools, technologies and trends in the business world with special focus on social media, web 2.0, web 3.0, project management, product management and profile management. The purpose is to empower enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and businesses with the knowledge of upcoming and new business practices that can help them lead their strategic inflection points.

Techaloo got an opportunity to have a chit-chat with Miss Amisha Singh, Founder and Chief Editor @ SocialProma. Let’s see what she wants to share with us.

Techaloo : What made you motivated to join the entrepreneurship community?
Amisha : I never thought of being a part of the entrepreneurship community, it was an accident but once I got into this I am totally enjoying it. Every day you have new challenges, something new to do and a lot of new things to learn which actually propels me to keep going.

Techaloo : How did this Idea come to your mind?
Amisha : While pursuing my MBA I had a passion to write about latest happenings of IT and business and many of my articles were published too in big media houses like The Hindu, The New Delhi Post etc. But during this I realised I was not able to convey all sort of information related to Business and IT to the people because I have to write only such topics which could be published. Hence, at this point I thought of starting a blog which will help me to convey my thoughts to people. But gradually many of my friends expressed interest in writing which gave birth to a full-fledged website – socialproma.

Techaloo : What was your vision/mission while starting Socialproma?
Amisha : My main aim while starting the website was to provide such a platform to more and more number of people who are interested in writing about Business and IT where they are not restricted by topics which is good for publishing  rather they are free to share their knowledge via published articles.

Techaloo : Why the name “Socialproma”?
Amisha : The name has been derived from the word social media and project management; social comes from social media and pro-ma is an abbreviation of project management.

Techaloo : What hurdles did you face while starting?
Amisha : The biggest hurdle for any media venture is to maintain constant flow of quality content and as our website provides latest news and views so it is even more crucial to have right people with you who can do the job with perfection. So, the major hurdle is to fetch the right set of skilled people and I would say I am lucky enough to get a wonderful team which has helped us right from designing the website till content.

Techaloo : What are the categories on the website?
Amisha : We have categories like business, technology, tools which provide not only news but also the insight on latest issues related to these areas. Further, we have section called interview dedicated to entrepreneurs where we cover their interviews so that our fellow entrepreneurs can learn from those startups.

Techaloo : How is it different from other news sites like gadgetronica etc.?
Amisha : See we are not restricted to one specific item like product etc rather our website covers issues, news and more important the real insight over the vast area of business, entrepreneurship and information technology which provides a big knowledge platform for the readers to stay updated. Moreover, it helps the business and entrepreneurs to gain some insight which can help them to solve their business issues and deal with the strategic inflection points.

Techaloo : How are you managing the content?
Amisha : We have our authors spread all over India who contribute to our website with latest news and insights. Further, we also have many content writer interns who research and generate quality content. We also invite guest columns from distinguished personalities.

Techaloo : Have you got any sort of funding or looking for the same?
Amisha : Till date the funding has been bootstrapped and I personally think that it would be great if we allow socialproma to be little bigger then look for funding.

Techaloo : How is the response till now?
Amisha : I am really happy that we have got an excellent feedback in just 3 months since it started. We have more than 30,000 unique visitors per month and more than 5, 00,000 hits per month which as per me is good going for a three month old website. Moreover we have highly active Facebook page where there are more than 1200 enthusiastic people reading, commenting and contributing to socialproma.

Techaloo :What are your plans for next 3 years?
Amisha : See 3 years is a long time in which a lot many things can change instead I am a person who would like to concentrate on present by keeping in mind the future. Hence, currently, our major objective is providing and curating quality content for our readers. Further we also have to finalize our revenue model which is still in progress.

Techaloo : What will be your advice for a new startup?
Amisha : I would say to the entrepreneurs that keep patience and carry right attitude because there will be times when things won’t work out, people will not take you seriously but that is the phase when you have to keep your morale high and believe me if this is done no one can stop you.

Techaloo : What do you think about techaloo.com?
Amisha : Techaloo.com is really a great platform to share as well as know the experiences of the entrepreneurs that too at the student level which is a great motivation factor for the new startups at the college levels. I believe techaloo.com’s contribution would help us see many Mark Zuckerberg in coming years.

Meet the founder

Amisha is the Founder and Chief Editor of www.socialproma.com. She is responsible for developing road map and complete operation of the website. Previously, she has worked in consultancy for and is currently in her final year of her Masters in Business Administration. She has a deep love, interest and passion for writing about IT and Business which persuaded her to start socialproma.

Mohit Bansal(23) is B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, India. He has interest in business and entrepreneurship and has published couple of research articles. He is also associated with various NGOs. He is with Techaloo when it was just in concept stage. The Techaloo site was not existing even then. Currently Mohit is working with Mu Sigma as a Business Analyst Profile.
