TripHobo raises first round of funding from Kalaari Capital – Funding to scale platform, content and innovation

Leading online trip planner TripHobo (formerly JoGuru) has secured an undisclosed amount of Series A funding from Kalaari Capital. The funds would be used to invest in improvements to the platform, scaling the number of itineraries and content for destinations exponentially, a press release from the company said.

Pune based TripHobo is the world’s largest platform for creating itineraries and sharing trips with friends. Currently TripHobo is home to over 25000 user created itineraries and curated content for close to 200 top tourist cities worldwide. The company has been ranked as the most innovative startup in Asia by online technology news site Tech in Asia. It has also been invited as an entrant to the prestigious Travel Innovation Summit in Los Angeles this November.

Says Vani Kola, Managing Director of Kalaari Capital “The travel industry is ripe for the next era of innovation and TripHobo is perfectly placed to capitalize on this. The platform is intelligent and the team understands travelers leveraging online services to plan and book their travel. We believe TripHobo can be the next big global brand from India and are truly excited to partner with them.”

TripHobo was founded in 2012 by three Marketing MBAs – Praveen Kumar from IIM Lucknow, Karthik Ramachandra, from IIM Indore and Saket Newaskar from MDI, Gurgaon. In the same year, they raised seed funding from a Private investor.

“Today’s young travelers demand a smarter way to plan their holidays. They don’t have the patience to sift through the highly fragmented travel information available. The typical trip planning process takes weeks and is. TripHobo is changing the way users approach this by providing an intuitive, graphical and fun platform where the user actually enjoy the process of trip planning. The rapid user adoption and the amount of time users are spending on our platform repeatedly, validates the need for such an innovation in the travel space.” says Praveen, CEO of TripHobo.
